Jumbo Loans in Minnesota — Financing for High-Value Homes

Whether you're buying a luxury property or moving up in the Twin Cities market-   Steve Leesley at Edge Home Finance can help you navigate jumbo loan options tailored to your situation.

What Is a Jumbo Loan?

A jumbo loan is a mortgage that exceeds the conforming loan limits set by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

For 2026, the conforming loan limit for most Minnesota counties is $806,500. Any loan amount above that threshold is considered a jumbo loan and requires different underwriting guidelines than conventional loans.

Jumbo loans are commonly used for:

  • Luxury and high-value home purchases in the Twin Cities metro
  • Move-up buyers purchasing in premium neighborhoods
  • Properties that exceed standard conforming loan limits

All loans subject to credit approval and underwriting guidelines. This is not a commitment to lend.

What to Expect With a Jumbo Loan

Jumbo loans carry more risk for lenders, which means the qualifying requirements are typically more stringent than conventional loans.

Here's what to expect:

  • Higher credit score requirements — typically 700 or higher, though requirements vary by lender
  • Larger down payment — often 10% to 20% or more, depending on the loan amount and lender
  • Lower debt-to-income ratio requirements
  • More extensive documentation of income and assets
  • Cash reserves may be required after closing

As an independent mortgage broker, Steve shops multiple lenders to find jumbo loan options that fit your financial profile — not a one-size-fits-all product.

Credit score, down payment, and reserve requirements vary by lender and loan program. Contact Steve to discuss your specific situation.

Jumbo Loans in the Twin Cities

The Minneapolis–Saint Paul metro is home to some of Minnesota's most sought-after neighborhoods — Edina, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Wayzata, Eden Prairie, and beyond.

As home values in these communities continue to grow, jumbo financing is increasingly common for move-up and luxury buyers.

Steve serves homebuyers across the Twin Cities metro and throughout Minnesota, with experience helping clients secure jumbo financing for properties at a wide range of price points.
